The Office in Second Life

So, I couldn't help myself and logged in to Second Life to search for Dwight and Jim. Through Jim's profile, I also found out that Pam has a Second Life character too. I also noticed that Dwight and Jim were members of a group called "Troy's Tavern", which was described as a place for fans of The Office, and after a lot of digging around to find the actual location of Troy's Tavern (I'm not very familiar with SL, I only signed up a couple weeks ago when I heard spoilers that Dwight was going to be playing and wanted to see what it was), I went there and thought it was pretty dull, but if you step outside and head next door, you come across something that looks pretty familiar...

So, as I said, if you go to Troy's Tavern and explore outside a little bit, you come across a parking lot that has a couple cars, a DM truck, and a small building. Right outside the door to that building is a box that gives you free Schrute Farms clothing. Then you step inside...

And see Pam's desk (the screencap came out a little funny, some of the background walls disappeared):

The layout is pretty different, as you can see. There's no Meredith/Creed area, instead over there they've just got a break room/kitchen combo. There's no conference room, and Michael's office is a little further over to where the conference room should be. And Jim's, Dwight's, Stanley's and Phyllis's desks are arranged very differently. At first I thought the desk facing Jim's desk had to be Dwight's, but one of the other desks further away had Dwight as a desktop background, and as weird as I think it would be for Dwight to have himself as a desktop background, it would probably be weirder for Stanley, Phyllis, or Andy.

Actually, I didn't notice the little stapler in jello until now, so I'm going to say definitely Dwight's desk, and the people who made this think Dwight's a little more ego-centric than I do. FYI - all the desktops I didn't show you had plain Dunder Mifflin backgrounds.

So that's your tour of The Office in Second Life!

ETA: I have no idea what's going on or how this works, but I joined the Dunder Mifflin group, and I am currently logged in and got an IM pop up from "Jim": Morning, everybody! We're doing a little maintenance on Jim's av this morning (catching up with friendship offers). Linden capped the offers, so we're catching up this morning.
And it seems like everyone in the group is in on the IM window, and he's responding to their comments about him "working on the weekend".
ETA2: The conversation has continued, and he's been giving stats like how many friendship offers they've gotten (Dwight's got about 400, Jim's got about 180), and how many people have joined the DM group (about 380). Someone commented that they would love to see Creed on SL, and Jim said "he and Phyllis are next". I wonder if there are already other ones that I've missed? I'll look through the members of the DM group.

ETA3: Yes they are!!

And Toby is on as Toby Donardson.

Jim sent out a "landmark" to the DM office, so now there's a lot more people there... And he said they *will* be building a Schrute Farms! He also says that the people doing this are not the official show people, but they worked with Kent Zbornak and the producers for the episode, but I guess they're mostly doing it on their own now? But are keeping the official folks informed of what they're doing.

OK, one more ETA, because I'm a total dork:

ETA: I went several days without logging in, and when I logged back in on November 6, I received notice through the DM group that the creators of all this have moved on to other projects. When you try to transport to the office/Troy's Tavern, you now get an error message. Dunder Mifflin Second Life is apparently now closed. It was fun while it lasted!
