LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Writer-producer Larry Wilmore is moving in front of the camera with a co-starring role in an untitled comedy pilot at CBS.

The project centers on a young couple who moves to the wife's hometown and has to deal with her family.

Wilmore will play the husband of the wife's mother (Christine Baranski). Ed O'Neill will play the father.

Wilmore has been serving as a consulting producer on the studio's comedy for NBC, "The Office." He also guest-starred in one of the most buzzworthy episodes of the show, last season's "Diversity Day."

If the pilot goes to series, it is possible that Wilmore will continue in his consulting producer role on "The Office."

Before embarking on a successful career as a writer-producer, which has earned him an Emmy for writing the pilot of Fox's "The Bernie Mac Show," Wilmore honed his performing skills as a stand-up comedian.
